Construction of two sorts

This building in our neighborhood was on fire last July and only now does it have s scaffolding for repair:

And in my walk to choir, the daylight savings light let me get an ok picture of  this combination of old, new, and construction:

The Berliner Dom

Was especially scenic in yesterday's sunny weather.

Sunset at frankfurter tot

From yesterday, a sunset at frankfurter tor. It was better in person - my phone's camera doesn't do it justice.

Zitadelle Spandau

Today we touristed at an old fort at the edge of Berlin. First, David:

Then a view of the tower from a wall:

And then the view from the top of the tower:

Another construction picture

This is what I found when I went to the window to figure out why our apartment was shaking from the street construction.

Street construction

From our street yesterday morning. As far as I can tell, they are in the long and loud process of moving the curb up to make more pedestrian space!

Bikes at Potsdam HBF

I'm still on busses, but once I get a bike I'll leave it here for my Potsdam commute!

Improvised drying

Without a dryer, the most unwieldy part of laundry are sheets and comforter covers.

Out and about

First, we noticed that Uncle Tom's Cabin in actually an u-bahn stop:

And then, a late night statue in kreuzberg:

Worse commutes to come

My usual s-bahn station is closing for about 6 weeks. Unless I get a bike, I'll be losing an additional ~90 minutes a week to the commute!

Clean!

We hired a cleaner, and one surprise feature of the cleaning was a ribbon declaring out toilet clean!

Shops under the tracks

It looks strange to me that there is frequently a row of stores under the train.

Three photos

From our pre-IKEA trip. The first one is traffic lights for the tram, then a random statue and our brunch!

Mr. DJ

I forgot to post this yesterday: David set up his DJ equipment and asked me to take this picture to show his electronic music friends:

Pies!

David has been raving about these pies that he got catered to work sometimes, and they just opened a cafe and store where you can buy them individually.

Tour bus!

This bus, spotted in babelsberg, amused me greatly.

Well, it's empty. Also, I can translate the second word: palace round trip (tours). And on the back, there is a man labeled "Prince Heinrich," who is obviously featured on these tours.

Not yet spring

I was waiting for the bus with a coworker this morning and she said she felt Berlin doesn't get spring - that we transition from winter to summer rather abruptly.

I said that maybe we should instead think about the hours of spring we get in the afternoon. Today I wore my winter coat in the morning, but comfortably walked around outside in a sweater in the afternoon. And it's only a little cloudy.

Three OS

Ever since David got me this lovely computer to broaden the available games, I've had access to three different operating systems: windows at home, Linux at work, and Mac on my laptop.

I mostly use my laptop, even with all these options!

More Edinburgh

I uploaded full size pictures today because there was some serious scenery. But first, cooked breakfast that's included with my stay:

Next, on my walk to the observatory, I encountered this arch at the bottom of Observatory Road:

And then true Scenic-ness from the top of the hill:

And the observatory roof:

And finally, savory pies for dinner:
